The most common memecoin scams
- Honeypot: you can buy but not sell.
- Rug pull: the liquidity gets pulled.
- Fakes: a token uses the name of a well-known coin but is a copy with a different address.
- Hidden fees: every sell automatically loses a share.
- Bundles: the creator spreads tokens over many wallets to fake a wide distribution.
How to check a token
- Copy the token address (CA), e.g. from DexScreener, pump.fun or your wallet.
- Paste it above and tap “Check now”.
- Read the light and the warnings below. Red = high risk, yellow = look closely, green = no notable warnings.
Important
Always check the address, not the name. Names and logos can be copied, the address can’t. And: no legitimate project ever asks for your seed phrase.
FAQ
How do I spot a fake token?
The check compares the ticker with verified tokens. If a verified token has the same name but a different address, it warns about a possible fake.
Do I need a wallet for the check?
No. The check works without a wallet, without sign-up and is free.
